Shedding Expectations, Defying Boundaries
NeuroNest Advising, LLC provides individualized, virtual consultations, and parenting tools for caregivers of elementary school aged children whose brains are wired to process information about the world differently and resultantly may struggle to adhere to “social norms” in everyday settings.
We are striving to create an inclusive, no-judgment community to help caregivers find their village of fellow parents, assemble their child’s care team, and foster a neurodivergent affirming approach to parenting.
NeuroNest works exclusively with parents and caregivers to make adaptations to their child’s environment, thereby allowing their children to be seen and understood by you and the other most important people in their lives.

About JoAnn
Hello, I’m JoAnn! I’m so glad you’re here.
As a mother of two elementary-aged children—one of whom is neurodivergent—I understand the emotional rollercoaster that comes with parenting a differently wired child. The highs are exhilarating, but the lows can feel overwhelming. A decade ago, I was in your shoes—navigating the challenges without a clear roadmap, constantly second-guessing myself, and wishing for a guide to help me through pivotal moments.
Now, I’m here to be that sherpa for you.

When Life Forces You to Slow Down—And Why That’s a Gift
If you’re anything like me, you take a lot of pride in keeping everything just so—the schedules, the meals, the routines, the emotional support, the troubleshooting, the invisible work that makes a household run. Especially as a parent of a neurodivergent child, you...
Rethinking Family Mealtime: Finding Connection in New Ways
This month, I want to reflect on a parenting ideal I once held tightly but have since learned to reimagine—family dinners. When I became a parent ten years ago, I envisioned us gathering around the table each evening for a warm, bonding experience. But despite...
The Power of Predictability and Medication: Supporting Your Neurodivergent Child
As we step into a fresh year, I want to take a moment to unpack two pieces of advice that we, as parents of neurodivergent children, may encounter often. First, the importance of creating the conditions for our kids’ nervous systems to stay regulated, and second, the nuanced conversation around using medication to support our children.
